I don’t profess to be a self-help guru, however, I do make the effort to improve my life as well as those around me by expanding my own knowledge in the area of personal growth.

I’ve read a number of books recently which I’d like to share with you in hopes you will benefit as well. As I read more and more I will add to this list so check back from time to time.

Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires by Esther and Jerry Hicks

So far my favorite is Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires by Esther and Jerry Hicks, contributing producers of the original version of the movie The Secret.

First, let me say that my personal belief is in God. So, with that in mind, it’s important to let you know I read this book from the perspective of someone wishing to learn more about prayer and how to pray effectively not only for myself but, of course, for others as well.

I appreciate the fact that this book isn’t titled in a manner that sends only a message about how to gain materialistically. The concepts ARE about how to line ourselves up and believe for the best results in our spiritual, mental, emotional, relational, and physical as well as material prosperity.

I like to keep this book handy as a reference because I find myself asking subconsciously “How?” on many occasions. That word alone thought subconsciously IS a prayer, by the way. It has served me well throughout my adult life when there didn’t seem to be a readily available answer to whatever the case may have been at the moment.

This book provides me with a fresh perspective of WHAT is happening when I pray and HOW to line myself up spiritually, mentally, and emotionally to pray in a manner that is freeing which gives me the ability to let go and let God.

I highly recommend this book whatever your faith may be. Just read it from the perspective of your own personal beliefs.
