Virtual life at it’s funnest! NOW I no longer have to GO somewhere to go bowling, play tennis or softball, shoot billiards, target practice, or just plain have fun. I can do so right in the comfort my own living room!

You see, I plunked down a chunk o’ change and bought DH and me a Nintendo Wii Console and a couple of games. We’ve been having a BLAST with this thing today! We’ve been bowling, playing tennis, softball and at this moment he’s in the living room mastering the Billiard game.

I had to rearrange the living room just a little to make room for us to play. This isn’t one of those game setups where you park yourself in a chair or on the couch. There’s a lot of movement involved which is THE main reason why I bought it. I NEED SOMETHING to get some kind of exercise since I’m not involved with much else outside of my own home.

Don’t know what I’m talking about? Check out these videos of the commercials for the Nintendo Wii. Gotta LOVE it! Fun for EVERYONE of ALL ages!

Mover over grandkids! Mamaw & Papaw have their OWN tournaments going now!

Off to shop for more games and accessories

Late with supper or a surprise visit from company and need a quick meal?

Well, I’m having one of those days, but I’m not too concerned because I’ve always got my trusty Kuhn Rikon 7 Liter Pressure Cooker handy. I’ll be able to serve up a hearty meal of roast, potatoes and carrots that serves 4-6 for supper tonight in roughly an hour with this puppy!

You betcha you read that right! And, yes, pressure cooking with the Kuhn Rikon Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker is safe. According to the Quick Quisine manual and recipe book I received free with mine, “The DUROMATIC pressure cookers by KUHN RIKON belong to the new second generation of pressure cookers. These pressure cookers are built with safety features that make it impossible for experiences such as your grandmother had.”

Before purchasing mine 3 years ago I had never used a pressure cooker in my life. Needless to say, I was concerned about the safety issue, too. So, I can tell you honestly that even the cook least experienced with pressure cooking can use this pressure cooker safely PROVIDED they read and follow the instructions in the manual.

Whenever I ordered mine I also ordered the Pressure Perfect cookbook by Lorna Sass. Lorna’s cookbook is chock full of pressure cooking recipes for soups, broths, meats, poultry, fish, veggies, pasta, rice, beans, whole grains, and desserts.

Other benefits of using the Kuhn Rikon Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker is that the nutrients and flavors are preserved while cooking. You won’t believe the awesome flavor of foods when you use it! The flavors and nutrients are locked in by the pressure during cooking rather than allowed to escape via the steam. Because pressure cooking cuts cooking time down to a bare minimum you’ll also save on your energy bills, AND, in that respect, you could consider yourself cooking green.

Got any pressure cooker tips, tricks, or recipes you’d like to share? Leave ‘em in a comment for all to see, k? For now, I gotta go…gotta get that roast on!

Doin’ the iPod Shuffle with the i-Station Shuffle Sound Dock

Sponsored Review

I’ve been burstin’ to share some news for a couple of weeks now, but I waited to see if anybody would try to guess what it is. Doesn’t look like anybody’s burstin’ to guess, so I’m just gonna bust out and tell it now.

Remember when b5media launched their Music Channel? Remember the contest they held in celebration? Remember the prizes for the winners of the contest? Well….

11iHcovCjHL-_AA160_.jpgI WON an Apple iPod Shuffle (2nd Generation)!!! A cute lil teeny tiny pink one! O-O-O-Ohhhhhhh…it’s s-o-o-o-o-o petite and girly-girly! But even as itsy, bitsy, teensy, weensy as it is (it measures 1.62″X1.06″ and weighs about 1/2 an ounce), I can store up to 240 songs on it…provided they aren’t as long as DH’s favorite, the long version of In-A-Godda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly.

Now as teeny as it is, when you pair it up with the Logic3 IP105 i-Station Sound Dock for iPod Shuffle it packs a BIG OLE punch! As soon as I found out I’d won I went in search of a set of the best speakers I could find so I wouldn’t be limited to listening to my favorite music with earphones. The most popular one I found was the i-Station Sound Dock by Logic3.

The rave reviews of the i-Station Sound Dock on Amazon.com convinced me to order it even though I would have to connect my 2nd Generation iPod Shuffle using a 3.5mm stereo line-in cable. The i-Station Sound Dock is actually designed for the original iPod Shuffle, which cradles in it and connects via a USB connection. Fortunately since the 2nd Generation iPod Shuffle doesn’t use a USB connection, it can also be used with other MP3 players, CD players, and audio devices using a 3.5mm stereo line-in cable.

It operates using either the AC adapter which is included or four AA batteries (not included). Now the good thing about this is I live in the boonies and don’t have to worry ’bout rufflin’ the neighbors feathers when I decide to entertain guests or myself outdoors. So, I took it outside to see how well it would work while operating on the batteries and cranked it up…LOUD. Holy Cow! You shoulda seen the cows in the pasture next door shakin’ up the milk!!! Who needs the local ice cream parlor for milkshakes when ya got your own miniature but powerful jukebox and live next door to cows?!

IMG_3849.JPG Ok, ok, I’m kiddin’ ’bout the cows, but I’m NOT jokin’ ’bout the awesome sound these lil speakers put out. I was able to hear it clearly and quite well from a couple hundred feet away from the porch where I had it set up. Click on the thumbnail to get an idea of the size of the i-Station Sound Dock. The picture frame behind it and to the right of the lamp are framing 5×7 pictures.

It comes with a USB Jack allowing you to sync your iPod Shuffle, a USB sync cable, and a nylon carry case in addition to the AC adapter and the 3.5 mm line-in cable. It’s small enough to pack in your luggage when traveling or even for use in your car. The price? A measly $21.92 plus s&h, but you better HURRY cuz there was only 2 left in stock last I checked! If you don’t get to it in time, maybe just maybe Logic3 will produce one designed for the 2nd Generation iPod Shuffle soon. Y’all listenin’, Logic3?!
