Fulltime RV’ing and Loving It!

Now THIS is the life! Fulltime RVing it these days and LOVIN’ it! Especially when the weather is finally as gorgeous as it is today and I’m able to sit outside with DH’s ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10-Inch Netbook with a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N280 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 10 GB Eee Storage, Bluetooth, XP Home, and a 9.5 hour battery life.

Living in our 5th wheel RV is like living in an efficiency apartment on wheels, but you at least get a little bit of a yard with it. Best part is being able to change your scenery on a whim.

Then there’s the issue of neighbors. Just give it a few days and you’ll have new ones if you’re not quite compatible with the current neighbors, or just move yourself. We’ve been fortunate the last couple of weeks to have two neighbors who are fun. Some evenings we gather around the picnic table and enjoy an evening meal and pleasant conversation.

Like us, our current neighbors are RVing it due to job situations. We all agree it’s nice to be paid to be on vacation. We’re going to be here for awhile, but they live a little bit more on the edge than we do as they’re in construction. They may park somewhere and be there for months or have to up and move to another location at the drop of a hat one day.

I’m fascinated by the many different RV floorplans and setups. Absolutely amazing to me what the RV manufacturers have come up with in recent years. If you haven’t already, take a look at ours to get a little bit of an idea. Later this week I’ll write a post about some of the RVs I’ve seen since embarking on this lifestyle so stick around.

Lots of Boomers Over 50 Blogging These Days

I was surfing around this morning looking for some fun links to share for the weekend. While visiting Mark’s Going Like Sixty blog I discovered there are a bunch of Boomer bloggers over 50 I didn’t know were out there. I’m sure there are plenty of fun, thoughtful and informative blogs in this group, and I plan to visit as many as possible over the weekend.

You can see who they are and go visit them, too, by checking the Over 50 & Bloggin’ blog roll on the right sidebar. Want to join them? Visit Over 50 & Bloggin’ to find out if your blog meets the requirements. If so, follow the simple instructions and request to be added.

In case you haven’t noticed while visiting us here before, there’s also a blog roll of Baby Boomer Divas led by Beverly Mahone of Boomer Diva Nation on the left sidebar.

Many of the Baby Boomer Divas operate their own business, are authors, or are in the entertainment industry. They are a smart, fun loving, wise, and thoughtful bunch of Boomer women who I highly recommend you visit and get to know, too.

Goodbye Laptop! Hello Portable Firefox Browser!

YO! Baby Boomer Online News, WHY are YOU polling MY RSS Feed from my post at Goodbye Laptop! Hello Portable Firefox Browser?

This mobile stuff just keeps getting better and better. Ok, so some of you already know about most of this stuff, but I didn’t. Upgrading to a Blackberry has opened up a whole new mobile world for me. While surfing blogs about mobile technology I discovered Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition on a post at Web Worker Daily. Perfect!

I KNEW I’d find another good use for the 1GB Mini SD card that came already in my Blackberry! See, I replaced that one with a SanDisk 8GB microSDHC Card (SDSDQ-8192, Bulk Package) so the 1GB is free for the taking now and the portable edition of Firefox, among other things, is going to take it and cruise around in my shiny thumb drive.

So what’s the point of the portable edition of Firefox? Well, I’ve got tons of Firefox plugins, links, etc. that aren’t available when I use another computer. Yes, I have an iGoogle page full of links, calendars, gadgets and other stuff, but that’s nothing like actually having your own personalized browser available most anyplace you go.

The laptop is moving into a part time position as I’ll only need it mainly for more secure purposes now and then. With the help of gotomypc.com, I’ve already been able to cut down on lugging the laptop along to some business appointments. My shoulder is much happier these days. Now to get the kitchen sink out of my purse.

Hmmm…looking over at my Digsby Buddy List (thank you, Heidi!) and wondering if it’s possible for it to ride along on my thumb drive with the portable edition of Firefox? My Blackberry takes care of all communication, but that’s a thought to consider for those without a BB. Making a note to look into it.
