Resurrected from the Blogging Dead
Yes, I have been….by none other than the Boomer who’s gone like sixty. He has awakened me from a deep winter hibernating slumber to…
“blog about five things in my life that I never dreamed, when I was 25, would be in my life now”.
Bear with me a bit here…gotta shake off the fuzzies that come with sleeping so deeply for so long, k? K, here we go….
- I, southern born and bred (Tennessee), never dreamed I would be living in southwestern Arkansas during the winter and missing the sight of a bright, fresh snow after having encountered my first BIG, LONG snowy winter in central Missouri at the age of 20 when I had no choice but to learn how to drive a stick-shift with bald tires and NO weight on those rear wheels in the white stuff and one hill after another with a dadgum red light at the top of every hill in order to get home from work. (YOU try holding that sucker in one spot at the red lights going uphill using the clutch and accelerator with slick tires and no rear weight and then get started going AGAIN). OR, after having experienced a white EASTER that year, not Christmas mind you, EASTER. That year I swore I didn’t care if I EVER saw the white stuff again in my life.
- I never dreamed I would be an ex-resident of Chi-town, either. Didn’t take long for me to move outta THAT city! Having to wear a jacket, pants, socks and shoes while attending an evening Cubs game in the month of June spooked this southern born gal. Goodness knows what winter would be like there further north than central Missouri!
- Not once did it ever occur to me that I’d be working at home some days in the modern day version of my Grandmother’s house dress…my PJs.
- Never dreamed I would be able to enjoy sports such as bowling, tennis, boxing, and other games right in my own living room with my Nintendo Wii.
- Never dreamed I would need the Nintendo Wii to get SOME kind of exercise because I was MUCH more active during that time in my life than I am now. I sit alot…at the computer nonetheless.
- And last but certainly not least, I never dreamed I would be resurrected from the blogging dead by a Boomer that goes sixty blogging away daily in Boomer Bloggerville! Thanks, Sixty! I’ve missed this…even though the hibernating was quite comfy and cozy.
Off to see if I can wake up Hope….

Yeah! Thanks Bloomer that goes sixty. Great to see Angela awake.
I had hills with a stick, my first car was a VW I bought myself. Later when married my husband called it his German jeep. Can’t believe the places it went.
But snow, bald tires, daily, I don’t know how you did it. I’d have been rolling back down the hill, killing the engine, drivers behind me would hate me as the light turned right while I restarted car.

Hey Heidi!!! So-o-o-o-o-o-o good to hear from you, too!
German jeep?! Cute! Mine was a 70’s Vega panel wagon…can’t remember the year. It was the 1st car I bought on my own, too.
Ha-h-a-a-a-a!!! Those bald boogers were smokin’, lemme tell ya! It was the trip home from work of a lifetime! Definitely my most unforgettable one…LOL!
Thank God the next day I was able to get recapped snow tires put on it and threw an old heater radiator from an old house into the back of it for weight. The self-confidence factor was MUCH better, too, due to my success in finally making it home that trip. The rest of the winter it was smooth sailin’ come snow or ice.

Okay Angela, I’m awake…can I hit the Snooooze button just one more time. LOL. It appears I’ve been Memed by Sixty as well. Hmmm…Five things in my Life I would have never dreamed, when I was 25 would be in my life now?? Well, let’s see, four years ago, I would have never Dreamed…..
1. I would be getting mail from people all over the world I’ve never met and blogging. And that someone outside my family and friends, that I’ve never even met would actually realize that I’ve been hibernating; I don’t think some of my family have even realized I’ve been outta pocket. That’s Scary! BLESS YOU SIXTY……….
2. I would be semi-vegetarian, the only meat I eat is pretty much Fish and Fowl; Chicken, Turkey, Seafood, you get the picture. No Beef or Pork, and I use lots of Soy products.
3. I would be working full time, 40 hrs/week, outside the home, and that it would be hard to quit due to the economy and the cost of health insurance. I see no chance of retiring unless I win the Lottery.
4. That I could either buy corn for dinner, or put corn in my car’s gas tank, Ethanol.
5. And finally, I never dreamed that my views on life as a whole, and the way I look at things would have changed so much…I know that’s pretty Broad..things that seemed unimportant then are more so now and vice versa.

I never thought I’d be a grandmother at 50.
I always thought my dad would be alive to see me get married and to see his first grandchild.
I never thought I would ever live in the South.

YAHOO! You’re back! I’ve been checking and checking and you have come back!
If I was to contemplate all the things I never would have expected my life to be at this time I think it would split me into MPD, lol!
I’m just happy I’m where I’m at and enjoying life as a professional artist and budding writer!
Welcome Back!!!!!

Coming to you from a cold, wet and stormy suburbia…our poor roos & emus have all had to shift to higher ground as the reserve [bushland] is almost under water! I’d let them come here, but WE can barely move as it is! lol Still house-hunting!!!
Catch up later on girl, welcome back to the blog!
ROCK ON!

Beautiful blog!
Tag, your it, Angela!
I’ve Been Tagged by a DIVA Too!
My sister Diva, Debbie Stevens http://freesiafever.blogspot.com/ tagged me with a “meme.” I have no idea! Look it up. That’s why God created Google! I thought that was Chinese for little sister. Hey, it fits!
I have to post six unimportant things about myself and then tag six other non-suspecting bloggers to participate. Sounds confusing, but fun.
Here are the rules:
1. Link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six unimportant things about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your blog entry.
5. Let the tagged people know by leaving a comment on their blogs.
Six Unimportant Things About Me:
1) I love all vegetables except hominy. Love grits, just not hominy. Patooey!
2) I like to feel the satin ribbons on the edge of blankets.
3) I got kicked out of ballet and put into gymnastics to save my life (I’m clumsy)
4) I can’t breathe when I hear bagpipes.
5) I’m in the Bowling Hall of Fame for making the big four split.
6) I love to tuck a sprig of rosemary behind my ear.
Have fun, Angela!

That is a great idea for getting people inspired to write. I’m collecting stories and anecdotes about growing up as a baby boomer. I believe it’s most important that boomer memories are collated and made available for sharing with others from all generations and cultures. Boomers have experienced such massive change and witnessed some stunning historical events, but we want the day-to-day stories, too.
How about three things about your childhood which would amaze a child today:
1. No computer
2. Walked to school unattended
3. Milk delivered to our door each day … in a glass bottle!
There we go
