Dreams Really DO Come True

Welcome! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed so you won't miss the Blarties (=blog+party) on the weekends. To find out more about our Blarties check out this post, too. Looking forward to seeing you on the weekends!

ShiveleyHomeSnow.jpgIf you read yesterday’s post, you know I’ve been dreaming of a white Christmas. Obviously, Debra Shiveley Welch, author of A Very Special Child, was dreaming of one, too, and her dream came true.

She shared this picture taken from her deck this morning as snow fell and created a white blanket in her world. Like many of us, Debra is a dreamer, and it’s been a blessing for her in many ways other than being able to enjoy the beauty of a white blanket of snow.

Debra always dreamed of being a mother. Fortunately for her and her adopted son, that dream came true when she and her husband became the proud parents of Chris. Another dream of Debra’s was for her son to know how much he always has been and is loved. That dream was the force behind her book, A Very Special Child.

Judging from the heartwarming stories Debra shares with us on our network about her and Chris’ day to day life, she and Chris were definitely meant to be brought together as mother and son. Dreams and what they bring to life in our life…it’s wonderful, isn’t it?

Will It Be A White Christmas This Year?

Filed under: News, Reviews, & Observations, 60's, Reminiscing — angela @ 8:53 am

One of the first questions in the minds of many this time of year. The likelyhood of a white Christmas here at my house is slim to none, but the question still runs through my mind at some point every year. I suppose you could say the theme song for many of us here in the south this time of the year is Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” because that’s as close as we get to having one most years.

The thought of that song brings back memories of Christmas shopping with my parents in an upscale department store as a child. As the song played over the store’s speakers and filled everyone’s thoughts with visions of a white Christmas, I was gazing at the display of record players. I was lost in my own dreams of finding one under the tree Christmas morning along with a selection of new albums filled with music of the time. That year my dream did come true, too.

I’m curious…what does the song make you think about?

Dancin’ in My Christmas Happy Pants!

Filed under: News, Reviews, & Observations, Entertainment, Music, 70's, Rock 'n Roll — angela @ 11:19 am

Couldn’t help it! Had to pull ‘em out, put ‘em on, and dance after viewing a video of Elton John singing one of his fun, upbeat, rock-n-roll 70’s Christmas songs over on the Wordfeeder’s blog.

What an uplifting Christmas memory! Thanks, Dina, for sharing that ole time 70’s Christmas cheer!
