Lemon yellow, orange orange, lime green, and FLAGS!
Welcome! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed so you won't miss the Blarties (=blog+party) on the weekends. To find out more about our Blarties check out this post, too. Looking forward to seeing you on the weekends!
Say what?! No, I’m not talkin’ ’bout cereal! But, if you REALLY wanna understand, you ABSOLUTELY MUST go visit the blog of the Pop Art Diva! Hope sent me over there today to check out the bell bottoms on the Pop Art Diva’s blog.
When her blog loaded up on my screen I felt as though I’d entered a time machine and had been taken back to the time and place of blacklights and neon colors shining brightly inside a room that had been painted black! Remember those?! I do!
Fascinating how seeing something like that can bring back a flood of memories. Imagine the scent of incense burning…the music in the background…imagine…you tell me….
Bell bottoms? Hmmm…still have any of yours collecting dust in YOUR closet? Me neither, but, oh, the memories of ‘em! I had bright canary yellow ones, lime green ones, and, get this, a pair that were patterned after the American flag! They were red and white striped from the hips to just below the knee where the navy blue background with white stars took over the BELL. I can’t BELIEVE I wore ANY of those in PUBLIC!
Oh, and then, of course, there were the Levis that I had inverted the outer seams along the legs and re-sewn (does that make sense?) and ripped out the hems to make ‘em have fringe down the sides and on the belled bottoms. My Mama was ready to gimme a lickin’ for THAT one…LOL! Told me that if my denim jacket sprouted fringe, I wouldn’t live to wear it.
Git on over there and check it out! You’re gonna love this gal and her pop art, I’m tellin’ ya!

Black lights … incense … gotta have Steppenwolf or, better yet, Jimi on tap for those. Posters. YES!!!!
There’s a good head-shop not far from here that has those (incidentally, it’s not a “horse pharm”, but just a gift shop that sells memorabilia and uses the head-shop motif as a gimmick). Got my first dose of Lucy’s Ghost (”lucy” short for “halLUCInogens”) in ‘68, with the Golliwogs’ “Fight Fire” on the platter.
Bell-bottoms? Tried ‘em. Not good when you’ve got a puppy though (step, drag Bingo, step, drag Bingo. He doesn’t let GO!)
I had a SUPER, BLINDING bright green silk shirt with bell sleeves at that time, and a belt buckle that had the word “BS” in FULL … a Maltese Cross and sandals.
And hair.
GOTSTA check out that Diva!! THANX FOR THE MEMORIES!!
PS What kinda incense? My fave was “sandalwood”.

I took my bellbottoms and denim jacket and embroidered whatever all over them. I also covered my jacket with all kinds of studs and sew-on patches, so much so you could hardly see any denim..it was a sight…I don\’t know what ever become of it…but I wish I still had it..Why?..LOL..just for a keepsake and the memories.
I burned Musk incense Relic.

Steppenwolf, yes, of course! The walls of my room were covered with posters. One of my friends painted a copy of the Al Pacino Serpico poster for me…LOVED IT! The type of paint he used glowed with my other posters under my blacklight.
Wow, Relic! Bet you were seen comin’ a mile away in THAT shirt!
Musk was my favorite incense, too, but I also liked Sandalwood.
Hope, HOW did you lose THAT jacket?!

Hope, that musk incense was a MUST-HAVE at gigs. I remember playing a place called “The Spider’s Web” and THAT was the aroma stokin’ the senses! For the next three shows, we HAD to have that …
).
but …
we … couldn’t … FIND … it!! Soooooooo, it was baaaaaaaaaack to SANDALWOOD (hey — sounds like a WESTERN!
Angela (OUCH!! My new whiskerlicker, COOL DUDE, just climbed up my leg. Oughtta SEE my legs now … gotta tie a ROPE around my waist when I drink coffee so it won’t go down there and leak through the little CLAW holes!) the “green hornet” shirt (my brothers called it that) COULD be seen a mile away … or CLOSER if you were a Charlotte cop! I was stopped … er, let’s sayyyy … I found out that … wellll, ummm … er, they thought I was … gay? (I’m not!)
Sheesh … ya can’t win for LOSIN’!
Hey … got one for ya: Didja ever hear of WHISKEY incense? My guitarist had it, and, man, you could get stoned just by the SCENT!!

Yeah … not a WORD about my “BS” beltbuckle, though! (Guess if he thought I was … YOU knowwwwwwww … he was maybe a little afraid to LOOK there.
)
Anyway, Louis’ (guitarist) gf at the time went to his place and noticed the aroma (of the whiskey incense), accused him of drinkin’ with another woman (geez … ANOTHER song title. COUNTRY, this time!), and split with him.
I think he found Jesus after that. Or maybe he said “Cheeses”. I couldn’t tell. He was crying.
Today, in some areas, bell-bottoms are making a comeback, thanks to liposuction … but the clothing’s ALSO becoming popular in some areas (mainly the hips).
HEY … what’s yer favorite color? Is it the same NOW as it was THEN (I mean, your favorite. Colors don’t change.)?
Talk later,
RELIC

?Ummm..Color..Fav..Never really thought about it, but I had always liked Blue, not any more.
Now I tend to favor red? Why, is that suppose to mean something…I’m curious..
LOL..Country Song Title..whiskey, Women, Drinkin, which song..LOL…I grew up listening to George Jones (opossum) and Tammy, Charlie Rich, Conway, etc. etc.(my parents wore those albums out) I know the words to country songs I don’t even recognize??..if that makes sense. Mom did watch American Bandstand too though, Thank Goodness.

Phew! Comin’ up for air FINALLY! Nose to the grind ALL day today.
Favorite color? Hmmm…mine has always been blue. Reminds me of cool, refreshing…I usually think of crystal clear, blue water you see in some pics of tropical places. One of these days I’M GOING to one of those places.
I also love red and black. I’m curious, too. What DOES that mean?
Populating hips…yea, I can relate…to seeing that.
Liposuction? ~~~~~SHUDDER~~~~~
