Angela, you’re probably thinking about the “duo” of Milli Vanilli, which hit (or something that RHYMES with it) on the scene back in 1989 with “Girl, You Know It’s True”. Looked like they were gonna pull off the scam, except for the “hiccuping” tape during a “live” performance (incidentally, any of us who’ve been behind the mixing boards can tell ya it was a set-up. SOMEBODY wanted to “blow the whistle” on those guys! Loops and tapetrax don’t skip on their OWN …)
Anyway … Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus tried to vindicate themselves by putting out stuff with their REAL voices, but, by then, nobody was actually BUYIN’ it (figuratively speakin’).
So Rob, in a serious depression, committed suicide in 1998, one day before they were to tour (at least, I … THINK … he did. Might’ve used somebody ELSE’S death, and went through the motions to make people think HE died …)
A movie about Milli Vanilli’s coming out soon, so (yawn!) look for it (ohhhh, if ya WANNA, I guess. I’m goin’ to sleep …)

I have to wonder if DCF fans would’ve reacted the same as the fans of the duo in the 80’s (cannot for the life of me remember the name of the duo, can anybody else?) when it was discovered they weren’t really singing if this had come out in the 60’s.

Y’know, it’s kinda interestin’ that DC’s never come out about this subject … (oh, man, I just got a BUZZ!! Goldie McJohn’s awesome lead-in to “Magic Carpet Ride” got stuck in my speakers, and kept repeating itself. I thought my friggin’ CAT was snoring! It’s my PC’s fault … but now I gotta apologize to Dudette. Hang on …)

Now … as I wuz sayin’: Dave has YET to defend himself; in fact, he’s burrowed even further into the woodwork!
