Linda Alexander: Author? Biographer? Detective? Storyteller? or All of the Above?

Networking and socializing online opens the door to meeting all kinds of interesting people these days. I’ve met some of the most interesting women on one of my favorite networks, Women in Networking, which is a network for women on Ryze.com. One of the women I’ve had the honor of becoming acquainted with on WIN is Linda Alexander, author of the soon-to-be-released book, Reluctant Witness: Robert Taylor, Hollywood and Communism.

No, Robert Taylor wasn’t a Baby Boomer, and the story of his initial involvement in politics took place before the time in the lives of Baby Boomers when we were trained to “hit the deck”, so to speak, beneath our desks in school and fallout shelters. Considering that, I wasn’t fully informed as to what exactly his “initial involvement” involved, but the title alone piqued my curiosity. I mean, hey, Hollywood? Communism? The name “Hollywood” immediately makes me think “free speech”. Communism, of course, makes me think totally the opposite.

So before Linda’s book is even released, her words have prompted me to do my own research to understand the link between those two words and Robert Taylor. I found some fascinating info about the history of Hollywood and politics, lemme tell ya! It’s that kind of imaginative word power that also made me add Reluctant Witness: Robert Taylor, Hollywood and Communism to my “must read” list of books and purchase two of her novels, Weekends in New England and Until Next Time.

I’ll be settling in comfortably on my couch this evening to begin reading Weekends in New England, but from what I understand, I won’t be comfortably settled for long…I’ll be on the edge of the couch quickly. Great! THAT’S the kind of story I want to read…something that GRABS me immediately and never lets go.
