Here in the southern US we love visitors. How 'bout you just run to your kitchen real quick, grab your favorite drink, come back to your 'puter, take your shoes off, and sit a spell. I'm sure we can find lots of things to chit chat about here in the cool shade of my blog.Remember the two cars in the Name That Boomer Memory post earlier this week? Well, although quite a few cruised in to hang out on Boomer Memory Lane, nobody responded to name the two cars. The first car is a 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. The second car is a 1964 Ford Galaxie, but ours was a 4 door rather than a 2 door. [...]

Relic, Thanks for the update. I see from Peter's site at http://www.petertork.com/ that he'll be in Centralia, IL 09/08/2007. There's a possibility I could make it to that while visiting family in St. Louie.

Here's the link to the petition I mentioned earlier for anybody interested in seeing The Monkees inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. http://www.petitiononline.com/Kretch07/petition.html

A quickie about the other Monkees (and, yes, I had my "#9 Dream" ... in other words -- or Joe Tex's -- I Gotcha!):
Micky's still doin' solo gigs around the country. Personally, I don't like the dude, but he STILL cuts a mean "Goin' Down" (a mix of scatsound and James Brown in a helluva cool next of lyrics! I remember all the words, too!).
Davy, on the other hand, is content with his horses, a few gigs, and tryin' his hand at occasional TV roles. He's not into it like he once was. (Think the Tork thing finally got him to wise up!)
Mike Nesmith is a pure genius with a warm but VERY private heart! He's devoted to his production company and Texas ranch. Rarely does gigs anymore.
Interesting to note that Warren Beatty tried out for the "tambourine" role that Davy got. Also, David Bowie changed HIS name from his given (Jones) in honor of Davy. Annnd (there's more?!?) Stephen Stills almost got Pete's role, but, when he was told his teeth were too crooked (really!), he recommended Peter for the "quiet one" of the prefabbers.

Found Peter\'s site and the petition...it\'s signed, sealed, and delivered with pleasure. :-)

Ding! Ding! Ding! Leslie and Relic!

Now if somebody would come along and tell me what kind of cars those are.

Ohhhhh, Relic, your mention of Miami Vice reminded me of the poster of DJ I used to dream of having over my bed. WHAT was I thinking???!!!

Hmmm...Elvis Pelvis and Miami Vice...have to think about this one seein's how Miami Vice, the show anyway, came along a roughly 6 or 7 yrs later than Elvis' departure from this life. Off to see if I can locate a copy of that last episode...

Ummm ... lemme see here. This is my 2nd try at commenting on this, so:
Could it be ... it looks like ... ELVIS' place? Yeah ... ELVIS mansion: final answer!

Incidentally, I'm told Elvis died about a couple years ago. He hadn't worked since the last episode of MIAMI VICE (YOU figure it out!).
