Blogging for Income? Be Prepared

If you’re income is derived solely from blogging you need to be prepared for anything that could interfere with consistently writing and blogging. Everybody has heard the importance of having 3-6 months of savings equivalent to your income in case of an emergency that puts you out of work. After experiencing an unexpected and extremely painful medical emergency the last couple of days I decided I will do my best to keep material prepared to post in the event I have another emergency such as this one again.

It may be a good idea to train someone else how to publish your posts that have been written in advance. My situation was such that I wasn’t even able to sit at my computer long enough to even hit the publish button to publish a couple of posts I had prepared let alone write anymore. Talk about frustrating even though I haven’t yet reached a point where I am reliant on income from blogging. Fortunately I had those posts scheduled to publish at certain times because I had Memorial Day plans this past weekend.

On a lighter note regarding blogging, I have been reading as much as I can of that which the blogging pros have shared online. It was frustrating to not be able to sit at my computer long enough to read their blogs the last couple of days, too. Imagine my delight when I received my autographed copy of Lorelle VanFossen’s new book, Blogging Tips, in the mail the other day. How timely. Although I was restricted to laying flat on my back, I wasn’t completely deprived of blogging. :-)

Thanks Lorelle for making my day!

Up too long now. Pain teasing me…back to bed with Lorelle’s book.

  1. Daring, it’s so wonderful to share your bed with you. ;-)

You are welcome and I hope you enjoy the book. It was a fast produced labor of intense love and copies are selling so fast, I’m sure we are going to go through our limited supply very quickly. Amazing.

And always, it cheers my heart to know that I’ve helped, even in times of pain and suffering. :D

Hang in there! And here’s to hoping I’m good in bed.

    Oh, I didn’t say that!

  2. How nice of you to visit…oops, uh NO, not my bed…my blog! LOL! Thanks for stopping by. :-)

I have very much enjoyed Blogging Tips (while in bed :-) ) which is full of great tips, tricks and secrets; succinct; straight to the point; and no fluff. No nonsense, “Let’s get this bloggin’ thang goin’ on the right way” kind of read.

Thanks again for getting it into my hands at just the right time. ‘preshatecha! (um, that’s Arkansas-speak)

  5. Also along with having extra posts ready for emergencies, the postdate feature in wordpress is great. You can go on a real vacation and have your posts automatically published at pre-selected times.

  6. Blogging and making income…new to me. I am a single baby boomer looking for some extra income in my spare time.

    Your feedback is appreciated.

Who are you and what do you do?

  7. Hi DB! Welcome to BBNR&O!

Ok, who am I? I\’m another Baby Boomer blogging on this blog for fun who also makes a some extra money from it. Like many bloggers I get excited about the possibility of making a 5-6 figure income. Hey, we can all go for the gusto, can\’t we?

I have a several other blogs that don\’t really get as much attention as this one. One is for my bookkeeping business, one for beauty tips (I\’m also an Independent Beauty Consultant), and one I started recently that is to help people (actually targeted to Boomers but all are welcome) new to technology and the internet.

Blogging is an enjoyable pastime for those who like to write for the sheer pleasure of it, and it\’s a business in and of itself for many as well as a networking and marketing tool for business.

Hope that answered your questions enough to at least give you a little bit of an idea of blogging for income. If not, head on over to my other blog, Boomers Tech Tips and submit any questions you have using the Contact page of that blog. I\’ll be happy to answer your questions there via blog posts that will be helpful to others, too.

    Hope to see you around!
