Top 5 Signs You Have Morphed Into A Disco Dancin’ Blogoholic

Darren Rowse at ProBlogger.net is hosting a contest this week for a “Top 5″ group writing project which ends late Thursday. A winner will be randomly selected by Darren on Friday and receive $1001 from Chitika.
The instructions are to write a “Top 5″ that relates to the theme of your blog. The objective is to visit the blogs of others participating and comment on their “Top 5″ in order to generate Link Love.
Well, I’m rather new to blogging so I’ve never participated in anything like this, but I thought it would be fun and decided to go for it. Here’s my…
1) You no longer instruct your family and friends to call or email you. Instead you tell them to leave a comment and you’ll respond.
2) You imagine your site meter counting the sheep when you do attempt to sleep. You imagine flipping the meter over to see how many of them have returned to jump the fence and hang with the rest of the flock.
3) You suddenly realize you CAN survive in the extreme northern hemisphere of the world during months of darkness because the only light you’ve seen in months comes from your computer monitor. Fortunately there is some white space on your blog that gives out a little extra light now and then.
4) You could care less what the latest gas prices are or how much more economical a hybrid auto would be. You don’t need either because you work, attend educational classes and events, socialize, and shop via the blogosphere from your comfortable, cozy home office. Your mouse doesn’t need either kind of energy to get you from one blog to another.
5) When your spouse/significant other mentions needing plugins scents you frantically head wide-eyed to Google to search for the latest and greatest new plugin. You’re thinking your spouse has heard about a new one that opened up a whole new world known as smellanet or SOIP aka scent over internet protocol. Woohoo!! Kewl!! You’re excited about being the first on your blog block to get it until he/she informs you he/she means the kind you plug into the electrical outlet and emits a scent. It’s NOT something that emits a scent through your speakers, mic, monitor, or harddrive fan. You almost begin the descension into a deep depression, but realize now YOU have the idea for the latest and greatest. The strobe light above your head begins blinking wildly and you click into blog disco mode. Dis go here? If only… Hmmm… Can dis go there? What if…

Angela, as you know I think it’s really cool that you went full-tilt with this. Very amusin! And I must give props to Mr. Rowse, the clever inventor of this fun blog hoppin’ project.

One more could be that when you return home after being out for a few hours, the first thing you do is rush to your computer to check your site stats and/or your technorati rating.
