Frame Your Resume in MS Word for Captivating Visual Appeal
Welcome! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed so you won't miss the Blarties (=blog+party) on the weekends. To find out more about our Blarties check out this post, too. Looking forward to seeing you on the weekends!
Your power-packed words and phrases written succinctly flow smoothly in your resume and paint a picture of you, the applicant who will be the perfect candidate in the mind’s eye of your future employer. It looks good and reads great, but an extra touch is needed. A visually intriguing touch will capture the attention of human resource professionals and/or your potential new employer and convey your professional image immediately.
To make it pop and stand out at first glance among the numerous resumes received for review, frame the content of your resume in a subtle, yet stunning, manner. It’s really easy and only requires a few simple steps in MS Word.
Follow me through the six easy steps below for MS Word 2003:
1) In the menu toolbar select Format/Bullets and Shading
2) Setting - Select “Box”.
3) Style - Select your choice of line design. My personal favorite is the ninth one down from the top with a thick line on top and a thin line on the bottom.
4) Color - Select your choice of color. My personal favorite color for resumes is the middle gray shade.
5) Width - Select your choice of size for your border lines. My personal favorite is 2 1/4 pt.
6) Apply to - (Located beneath the preview) Whole document.
Ta-da! You now have a visually appealing resume dressed as well as you should be when you go in for your interview.

Well this is really useful. I would recommend every job seeker to have a look at this article to learn about resume preparation. I have tested these steps and wow a great resume is made and above all “visually captivating”. It proves the point that however good you are technically you got to design your resume to give a great appeal to the Employer.
Thanks very much,
Shiva
