Gas stoves…thank God they multi-task

It’s rather chilly here in southwest Arkansas today which doesn’t necessarily happen THAT often in this part of the good ole USA. Of all days, the furnace had to decide to have issues today. Seems the thermocouple had seen better days. Thank God it waited until I had risen for the day before poopin’ out on us.
I kept waiting and waiting for the furnace to kick on as I sat in the dimly lit living room sipping my coffee in an effort to wake up. Finally went to investigate…kicked up the temp dial….there was the familiar “click” I should hear that usually triggers the furnace to kick on, BUT it didn’t kick on.
Ok, time to pull out the honey-do list, add it to the emergency section and get the Mister to rise now and attend to this emergency.
Were we out of propane? Last check a couple of days ago indicated we had a 25% full tank which is at least 60 gallons in a 250 gallon tank. The Mister checked and we were ok. Only down to 15% now. Still plenty of propane.
So, off comes the front of the furnace as we both thank God we have a gas stove for cooking. Time to put it to multi-task. I prepared the veggies and put them into the pressure cooker on top of the stove. Worked like a charm!
Supper is already on. All I’ll have to do is reheat the aromatic homemade veggie soup later in the day, AND the chill diminishes in the house as the Mister troubleshoots and discovers the thermocouple has pooped out.
There you have it…not a particular brand to brag about (mine is a Fridgidaire, btw), but the type of stove we use was definitely a lifesaver for us today.
